It's dar dar's birthday! I've made reservations for Yakiniku Daidomon, located at Keypoint level 1. I've also requested for a private room and managed to get them to waive the room charges. My initial idea was to get either Barracks or Oosh because dar dar likes the ambience of the places along Dempsey but Barracks required a minimum spending of $1500 and Oosh wasnt able to provide me with a proper priced menu and i had to respect the other members of the group as well. Yakiniku Daidomon was chosen and it proved to be a good choice! Everyone had a good meal and they kept giving praises of the place.
Yakiniku Daidomon....
i've visited this place like 10 years back... Jo brought me here with her family. They were raving to me about how nice the beef from this place was, how tender and all but i didn't used to eat beef (dat explains why i keep going for beef now.. chi bao chou.. haha!).. I was under the impression that this place is major, super expensive and its not exactly that accessible so i never really headed back.
i called before coming down and realised that they have either buffet or ala carte. Pricing for buffet is as follows:
you can check out their buffet menu here.
$58 ++ may not be cheap but considering the food and all, its actually quite worth it.. or at least everyone on our table felt so. The food were all pretty fresh and tastes good. This place is actually famous for their wagyu shabu shabu but we didnt order it since we were already going for the buffet.
here are some of the food items..
salad...
kim chi...
jelly fish...
sour plum rice...
tamago...
egg soup, oxtail soup, seaweed soup....
personally found the oxtail soup to be the nicest.
sashimi....
the butter fish is so so so so so so good! Lionel, i know u 'detest' people who use 'melts in your mouth' but i did feel like it melted in my mouth! haha... when i placed it into my mouth and gave a bite, the sweet juices just seemed to splash out in my mouth.. the texture is also amazing....
so we ordered more!
tempura...
the tempura prawns were pretty decent. the white fish was quite tasteless. the chicken was just ok, not tender.
seafood....
there was prawns, squid and scallop. The scallops were my favourite! Big and fresh.. and most importantly, FREE FLOW. muahaha!
the chicken....
was nice!
sausages....
typically i'm a very sausage person. the sausages are decent but not impressive. Maybe its coz they arrived last so by the time we were pretty full after all the beef, pork and chicken already. haha
the lamb ....
the different pork parts....
pork loin...
pork belly....
pork chin...
pork collar...
the pork belly was the hot favourite amongst everyone. The chin was literally just fats. haha
the beef items....
marinated raw beef with egg yolk...
to be eaten raw! tastes ok.
raw liver....
i tried one piece, found it ok but weird. haha.. Kendi and andy zai were the 2 other brave souls to try it and they actually liked it! esecially andy zai.. he finished most of it.
marinated and lightly grilled raw beef...
loh gong zai said this one is power. he really liked it.
some of the other beef parts which i cant really tell which is which part....
this one is the beef tongue....
i found it quite chewy so i didnt really like it but fishtank said its nice.
the bbq....
and the desserts....
we were so full after the meal! the corn flavour was very nice.. the girls all liked it.. the guys preferred the cookies and cream and said it tastes like some haagen daz flavour. the watermelon wasnt very sweet though.
