Pasta Cafe

Dinner was at Pasta Cafe with Kendi, Jiamiao & loh gong zai...

located at level 1 of Ngee Ann City, facing MOS burger.

Been here years back with dar dar and Jo on separate occasions. I vaguely recall we used to love their chicken karage, calamari and lasagne... but over time i guess we kinda forgot about returning.

the place has since renovated ....

it is noted that this place seems quite popular and always seems to have a pretty long queue each time we come by.

We shared a few starters...

Procuitto and Parmigiano ($8.90)...

its not supposed to come with the honey dew but they mixed up our order so they just topped up the cheese. The parma ham was not great but considering the price and that its not those typical true italian restaurant, i won't say there was major disappointment.

Breaded Mussels ($6.90)...

the bread crumps were garlic flavoured and its oh so nice! this dish is recommended!

chicken karage ($6.90)...

loh gong zai pointed out that we also had fried chicken from Daidomon yesterday but i still insisted on ordering because i remember we used to love it so loh gong zai took a look at the menu and said.. " the price here compared to what we had yesterday is peanuts... u want to order how many plates also can " hahhaa... the karaage chicken was ok.. falls short of my expectations actually. I remember it being much much nicer.
for mains, loh gong zai had the seafood sambal marinara ($17.90)...

truth be told, i cannot really remember how it tastes. But i remember loh gong zai didnt complain or sing praises so i guess its decent.

Kendi went for the slipper lobster ($17.90)...

its supposed to be one of their signature dishes. It looks so good on the menu and on other's tables but Kendi's one just didnt seem to look great. In terms of taste, it was also nothing wow-ing. Just decent.

I went for the oyster cream ($16.90)...

we were pretty surprised that they had oysters actually. Yesterday at Daidomon, they said oyster was not available and loh gong zai updated that AVA has blocked some oysters from China because they failed the noroviruses test by AVA hence resulting in oyster shortage.

anyway, the oysters in my oyster cream pasta was HUGE! it was nice!

loh gong zai also ordered some coffee drink...

Tastes pretty good.

overall the food at pasta cafe is pretty decent, not overly expensive. I believe we'll head back again.
