Wanted to bring Lilian to Dennis aka Checkers because its quiet so we can do our catching up but got attracted by Da Chang Jin. Always see this place but never tried coz usually when we get to Checkers, its wee hours of the night kinda thing. So anyway, Lilian didnt mind korean food so it was Da Chang Jin we went....
we opted for the korean bbq so we were brought to a rather authentic korean setting room....
legs go under the table!
the golden spoon and chopsticks...
the menu...
and truth be told this is my very first visit to such an authentic korean restaurant. Seoul garden obviously doesnt count. haha.. but luckily im not mountain tortoise.. i read Lionel's blog and he mentioned that these kinda korean restaurants actually serve starters (im guessing they are complimentary) befores the meal begins...
and according to lionel they are usually refillable? but there was already too much for us to finish so we didnt ask for any...
the appetisers included things like kim chi, jelly fish and some vegetables etc etc as per the pictures. they generally taste ok. Not fantastic but not not nice.
We ordered a ginseng chicken soup to share....
the ginseng chicken soup was alright in my view. Chicken was a lil small but its ok coz lilian is actually a very small eater so i cant finish it either. The soup wasnt exactly very strong in taste but i quite liked it coz it had those lil rice like particles at the bottom which i liked.
the server (who was korean) recommended the pork belly wif kim chi (which he said is not available on their new menu anymore but customers still order it)...
and because for our meet up today, Lilian and myself were more interested in our catching up, we let the restaurant do the bbq-ing for us. The pork belly was just ok. Probably wouldnt order it again if i ever revisit.
then we also had the beef ribs...
this was rather good! It was really soft and the beef taste was strong (i like).
complimentary fruits came after the meal....
Da Chang Jin is located behind the Shenton Way Party World Ktv (think its along Prince Edward Road). Duno how much it costs coz Lilian paid for it and refused to let me pay her back. thank cute dear.
