calamari...

was quite nice except duno why they placed the sauce below so it got soggy very fast.

pizza...

didnt really fancy this. i kinda prefer the last one i had at bistro senso.

Canele

we still had time to kill so i decided to buy us desserts at canele.

the cake dat Joey chose...

very rich and thick chocolate.

macaroons that made ishan really happy...

and we also shared a noghurtine crepe....

As good as usual. but we were just too full to finish. the cream, the caramel, the nutella... Mmm... sinfully good.

Sano Bar

after the games, we headed to the newly reopened sanobar at the pier....

the place was really crowded. we managed to get seats outside.

sanobar serves lebanese cuisine and the both of them were very excited when i told them about the place coz they love lebanese food....

we first had a fried feta cheese in filo pastry...

this dish came somewhat different from what i visualised. i thought it would be big filo pastry with melted cheese... didnt expect it to turn out to be small spring rolls. it tasted ok nevertheless.

ishan was very excited about ordering the filafel....

the inside...

its actually a mixture of a few different type of beans.. the texture actually didnt taste vegetarian. it tasted like it had a bit of meat when it actually doesnt. not too bad.

we also shared a beef kebab....

the beef cubes were ok but the garlic mayo sauce that came wif it was super good. we all loved it.

we also had a chicken kebab...

it doesnt look chicken, doesnt taste chicken. in fact it tastes mutton. i still refuse to believe its chicken. and so.. obviously i didnt enjoy this dish.

after the few dishes, we were not really satisfied so we kinda decided to go for a rather safe option. we had a hummus..

the hummus was not too bad.

Joey treated. thank cute!

Crystal Jade Bakery

i bought a box of cupcakes from crystal jade for ren yin. i actually didnt know the number of peope coming today so i just randomly picked the cupcakes dat i decided looked pretty or cute. coincidentally, it fitted the exact number of people who were here today!

the cupcakes are nice. crystal jade surpisingly has very good cupcakes especially their muffin part, its very good.

Zac's Cafe

after work, i went over to arab street to meet up with the lions babes. it is ren yin's birthday celebration and meiman brought us to check out zac's cafe.

it is supposed to serve some middle eastern food but in the end everyone went for the western food items.

i had an oxtail stew...

it was ok. the mashed potato was really good. the oxtail, i'd prefer it if it is more meaty.

the girls suddenly began talking about exotic food and meat and even got onto fear factor.. lagi lose appetite. haha

zac's cafe will be having a buffet dinner on 28th march....

looks like a pretty good deal if u ask me.

Perle Noire

DF picked me up and i brought him to perle noire. its kind of like his birthday celebration.

the interior of perle noire....

dinner wise, he had a mushroom soup...

it was not too bad but my seafood bisque was better! hehe.. after trying my soup, we both felt dat we couldnt really taste the mushroom....

my seafood bisque was creamy and has a generous portion of seafood. yummy.

for mains, i told him that they haf a very popular yorkshire pork rack and he decided to have the same....

the pork rack today is a bit different from the last time i had it. i find the previous one better. i came home and checked through and realised the last time round, it was in cream sauce. today's one is some sweet sauce. i prefer the cream sauce. and while today's pork was still tender .. the texture the last time round was much better... it had dat oomph.

at the end of the meal, the server came over with the cake that i have pre-arranged for her to bring over with a candle... *forgot individual pics of the cake*

happy birthday!

the cake was the warm chocolate cake. it was pretty good with chocolate that oozes out. =)

thank cute for the treat!

Goodwood Park Teochew Porridge

an agonising day at work. after work i met up wif JJ. i told him im angry, hungry (coz i havent eaten the whole day) but dun feel like having anything heavy. He suggested going for porridge at goodwood park hotel. sounds like a fabulous idea.

the restaurant was really quiet, very comfortable for catching up...

we were first served the peanuts..

the peanuts were really really good. very nicely stewed (?).

we also had a cold tofu with pork floss....

JJ said this is his favourite. i found it a bit too sweet for my liking.

the braised duck...

so good! the sauce is slightly different from what i've had and its really good.

the fermented bean sauce kang kong....

so good! i know its a very simple dish but they just did it really well.

my favourite for today is the cai por omelette...

the egg was really fluffy ... very soft... its SO GOOD. again, a simple dish but done so exquisitely!

The porridge...

it was very satisfying.... a wonderful meal to end my day.

thank cute for the treat!

Li Bai

after work today, i went over to sheraton to meet up with dad, mum and chandra. i made reservations for the renowned Li Bai. For years, i've heard raves and raves of this chinese restaurant and the hefty price tag. And i haf this perception, chinese restaurant should always typically be visited with the parents. and finally, here goes!

Li Bai...

the restaurant was pretty quiet for the night.

the first dish was the scallop and prawns salad...

i found the prawns salad a bit ordinary. the scallop salad was nice but both pretty pricey.

the crispy roast chicken...

this was really good. the skin was extremely crispy and thin. so good.

foie gras wif roast duck...

the foie gras was good. dad, mum and chandra all liked it.

cod fish....

not too bad.. a little sweet for my liking but i think most people would generally like it.

my favourite for the day....

spinach tofu. this was probably the only dish that wowed us today. the beancurd was really really good.. the spinach on the top enhanced the taste totally.

fish noodle with chicken cubes....

supposed to be some speciality item but didnt find it all that good. while it was ok.. wasnt exceptional.

also had lamb chops which i didnt try...

for desserts, we ordered the fried ice cream for chandra coz she has a really sweet tooth and really likes ice cream....

mum had a ice cream with glutinous rice...

i tried a bit of it. its pretty nice!

dad had a mango pudding...

the damage, was $300 odd. and with such, dad decided that since he will be attending a wedding dinner this saturday (which also is his birthday), this treat should be the bday treat for both of them. oh n yes, my parents actually share the same lunar birthday.

happy birthday mummy!
