Hog's Breath

Celebrated dar dar's birthday at Hog's Breath

food wise, we went for the calamari...

their calamari is good. its very soft with salt and pepper. i like it.

for mains, andy zai went for the prime rib wif prawns. done medium rare. usually its a bit cold so today we specially requested it to be medium rare still but hope that its not too cold and they achieved it!

dar and i shared a blackened prime rib...

also medium rare...

and we also shared a tex combo i think.. comes with a chimichanga and sirloin...

sirloin is also done medium rare..

can feel that its much tougher den the prime rib of course.

the chimichanga...

while its pretty ok, i think the one from blu jazz is nicer.

today's prime ribs after our special request, turned out to be the best experience we've had in hogs breath. its really tender and served warm.

The Pier Market (San Francisco)

decided to do dinner there at The Pier Market...

the interior...

the address...

they have crayons for us to draw...

Gerrit was still full from his late lunch and went only for a beer...

i ordered a crab cake...

didnt find it very nice. i think i prefer the ones from Menotti. maybe because this one wasnt salty enough.

and for mains, i had a mahi mahi wif pasta....

the mahi mahi was quite nicely grilled. i wish i was here wif more people so we can order more to share. the pasta was ok.

China One Int'l Buffet (Iowa)

Kaizhi and i drove around till we found chinese food....

address of this place in case anyone is interested...

and we never felt so happy to have found chinese food!

some pictures of the food...

on the table was some chinese horoscope thingy and something caught my attention...

kaizhi's first serving...

they also had a mongolian section where you can choose some meat and sauces and they will cook it mongolian style for u...

not very nice.

kaizhi was hooked onto their crabs... she said its very good...

overall i found the food pretty ok. the most chinese tasting food i've tried over here. again its very cheap. only US$11 per person. Kaizhi said she is quite certain she will find herself coming back here.

we were given a fortune cookie before we left...

atlas, i didnt manage to find out my fortune coz i left it with kaizhi.

The Cheesecake Factory (Iowa)

Lunch at The Cheesecake Factory.

food wise, we ordered a lot! we ordered a starter combination dat the menu said can feed 4! it includes.. Avocado Eggrolls, Spinach and Cheese Dip, Pot Stickers, Summer Rolls, Quesadilla, Corn Cakes, Buffalo Blasts and Calamari.

and when it arrived....

wow wow wow!

Quesadilla and Corn Cakes...

the Quesadilla is pretty good. Kaizhi likes the cheesy portion. the corn cakes are not bad either.

cant recall what these two are...

but the one on top tastes a bit like gyoza. kaizhi really liked it mainly coz of its sauce.

Vietnamese spring summer rolls and spinach and cheese dips...

the vietnamese spring rolls were really good. in fact much better den those we've tried in singapore. the spinach cheese dips were pretty nice too. i can just eat it on its own!

calamari and avocado egg roll...

the calamari is really good. i miss eating calamari! their avocado roll was also pretty ok though not fantastic.

and of course, we couldnt finish. and in fact, after the appetisers, we could barely start on our main courses.

for the mains, i had a steak diana which the server recommended....

done medium rare...

probably mentioned before, the portions here are really huge. there were huge medallion pieces of beef. it was really tender and pretty good in that mushroom red wine sauce. too bad i was too full and could barely finish it.

kaizhi went for the salmon...

it was cooked in some barbeque sauce. i found that a bit too sweet for my liking.

honestly, after trying their main courses twice, while its fine.. i am quite disappointed. i was under the impression that their food is fabulous.. totally delectable till its almost out of this world but sadly, its not. its.. just ok.

their cheesecake however, is excellent! and after this meal, we were too full to go for desserts. we decided to shop around a bit before heading back to pack the cheesecake home.

Marriot (Iowa)

the marriot hotel buffet. my first serving...

they have that biscuit thingy too. its also nice but not as good as the one i had from nathan's. that was da best.

their bacon is so so so so nice. i've always not been a bacon person. i've always found bacon too oily for my liking though i know many people love bacon. i've always been more of a sausage person. but their bacon here in usa is sooooo heavenly. its fat. its fat, not oily (if u know what im toking abt). its just soooo good. was just raving to dear clammy and she went.. " ohhh .. stop it! i love fatty bacon! " hahahhaa

if only i can bring it back to singapore!

some of the pastries included but i did not try...

the fruits...

their fruits are soooo fresh.. sooo sweet, soooo goood! they had a bit of cold cut items like cheese and ham too.

and their savoury items...

some breakfast cereals...

and as i sat, the server came to ask if i wanted omelette and waffle. for the omelette, she said i could haf ANYTHING at all. suddenly i was brain dead.. so i opted for mushroom, cheese and ham. i later wondered if i chut stunt and told her i want sharks fins and lobster (not that it will taste good with omelette), she can find or not? coz she re-emphasised to me many times dat i can haf ANYTHING with my omelette. haha.. she was nice la.

the omelette was ok, not bad.

and there was the waffle....

Mmmm.. its nice!

and like i mentioned, their buffets are CHEAP! it is only US$13. and their buffets include drinks. i like!

Chick-Fil-A (Iowa)

Kaizhi went for the Chick-fil-A

they were giving out free samples and kaizhi fell for it after one bite...

their chicken fillets. breast meat but kaizhi said its nice. i didnt find it really good.

Taco John's (Iowa)

for dinner, i went for the Taco John's...

they haf absolutely delicious hashbrowns....

coz its salty! *winkz*

i went for the soft beef taco...

its.. average.

Wendy's (Iowa)

for lunch, i had Wendy's...

changed my fries to baked potato with broccoli and melted cheese...

was yummy. their baked potatoes are always so nice.. so is the soft broccoli. yum.

for the burger, they have the option of triple beef patties! i was not feeling adventurous enough. i went for two...

ahhh.. was GOOD! rich beefy taste in the patty.
