Modesto's

The gathering @ Leonard's house was shifted over to Modesto's (Orchard Parade Hotel)...

We ordered garlic bread to share while waiting for Jeremy to arrive....

i really like their garlic bread! its not too crispy (though i koe most of u like it crispy) and i really like their garlic spread. really fragrant in my view!

for mains, we shared a ravioli under my recommendation...

inside is filled wif minced prawns and crab... yum yum!

jeremy had some sausage pasta which he refused to share coz he was having cough.. (but i dun mind getting a cough.. i think.. hehe)

haha.. actually he did la.. he made me eat before he started eating... the pasta was quite nice.

we also shared a parma ham and ricola salad pizza....

nice! i love parma ham and rockets pizza! love love love!

Janice treated, thank cute!

Cicada

Dinner with Kaizhi and Eng Fong. Since we've got a car, i insisted that we should head somewhere where its only accessible by car. The few newly popped up lifestyle hubs came to mind. We called Prive only to find it fully booked for today and tomorrow. =(

Cicada had seats though! Thanks to lil bee and Ronald.

the journey there was quite a challenge though... coz we're like 3 'directionless' ladies.. of which the driver is newly licensed.. haha..

thank god for my dearest bro who gave good directions.. we probably would never get there w/o him.

so there...

Cicada
7 Portsdown Road
(next to Colbar & Temasek Club)
Singapore 139298

info@thecicada.com.sg
www.thecicada.com.sg

tel: 64722100

some pictures i managed to take while toying with my camera's modes...

and the especially round moon as pointed out by Eng Fong...

and Kudos to Ronald for the night. Its apparent that all the staffs have been properly trained and coached offering very attentive services.

The crowd was mainly executive and the place was quiet and cosy. Ideal place for our catching up tonight!

the food!

the seafood bisque soup (around $13 - $15 if i recall correctly)...

which i LOVE LOVE LOVE. its very thick and tastes alot like the lobster bisque soup from Jacks place except dat its much thicker and tastier. But, eng fong and kaizhi didnt like it coz they find it too thick and they don't like the hay gor taste. So if u love the hay gor taste like me, u absolutely hafta try this!

we also shared a crab caesar salad...

it came with poached egg and bacon. Yummy! Eng Fong and Kaizhi liked it as well.

we also had a buttermilk mashed potato ($5)...

the mashed potato had a very light taste.. i thought i tasted olive oil..

the capellini with slipper lobster ($23)

its good! the sauce was really addictive and it gets to me.

the scallop pizza....

a closer up view...

very finely sliced scallop so couldnt really taste the scallop in my view. But loved the thin crust. Eng fong and kaizhi liked this better den i did.

and finally, the star for tonight!

Peanut Butter Chocolate Brownie Crunch Cake....

its SO SO SO SO DIVINE! The sugar level in the chocolate was just nice, not too sweet and it was rich yet not too rich.. the middle layer is where the peanut butter crunch is... the ice cream was totally smooth and when you slide it onto the cake, its simply scumptious!! all 3 of us were wowed by it~!

the portion is also quite big so i'd highly recommend u share it!

and the very thoughtful lil bee brought me my english breakfast tea...

thank cute for being so thoughtful and always remembering!

Island Creamery

Another recommendation by Janice & Leonard was the Island Creamery ice cream. The place got more crowded along the night and it was hard to get seats. Initially, i was not particularly in the mood for ice cream that night. I thought its probably just another ice cream joint until Janice started to give her recommendations and i was enticed! She told me they have flavours like apple pie and it totally tastes like the actual pie.. they even have flavours like tiger beer!

so while queuing, i got more and more excited! Leonard could see the excitement in me and we agreed we'll order 3 scoops of 2 and he allowed me to choose 5 of the 6 flavours! MuahaHHAHAA!

our orders....

a closer up view....

they didnt have the apple pie flavour that Janice mentioned but they had pineapple tart! It REALLY TASTED LIKE PINEAPPLE TART! and i felt that it didnt only taste like the pineapple fillings, it was like i could taste the pastry part as well!!

the guinness flavour was also quite cool! haha... i'll 'ta' u anytime!

i liked the pulau hitam flavour as well... and the nutella.. and the teh tarik... and and the cookies and cream ... They were all so YUMMY!

i felt so happy!

Le Petite Cuisine

Janice and Leonard had been talking to me about this French place at Serene Centre, how its cheap and good! So we finally fixed a date to head down together.

Le Petite Cuisine..

Kindly note that they only accept cash.

The server was really funny.. he's malay and when he came out to hand us the menu, he said.. " everything here is french, except me ". haha..

The food was really CHEAP.

warm bread that came wif the soup...

we had cream of mushroom and cream of broccoli...

the cream of mushroom was good! it was tasty. the cream of broccoli was not as tasty though. oh.. and soup is only a $3 top up from the main courses ordered.

we shared a foie gras ($16)...

a closer up view...

the foie gras may not be the best i've had but its very decent. portion vs price is very reasonable.

for mains, we ordered the ravioli of prawns and foie gras ($13.50)...

the foie gras and prawns inside...

its pretty good. the sauce is a comforting cream sauce. but oh.. haha. the ravioli skin tasted like wanton skin! But i'm not complaining. i mean, for $13.50, theres really nothing to complain. A dish like this can easily cost $20 - $30 in the posher places.

sirloin steak ($11)...

done medium rare....

the steak was ok. The beef taste was not strong and while its not tough, its not very tender either. BUT, at $11, i think its GREAT! the potato gratin was scrumptious!

fillet of salmon ($13)....

the lemon cream sauce was to die for! It went really really well with the salmon. The tinge of lemon worked wonders for a cream based sauce. The salmon was cooked to perfection. It was not overcooked and the texture was simply divine. Portion was great as well. The rice at the side was also fabulous. Its slightly sticky with cheese power on top, goes really well with the sauce also!

LOVE the recommendation! thank cute Janice and Leonard!

Miss Clarity Cafe

After Sofra, we adjourned to miss clarity cafe for desserts.

crabby ordered her all time favourite warm bread butter pudding...

the rest of the girls really liked it as well.

i ordered the mud ooze which lionel kinda highly recommended...

i was quite disappointed. crabby and myself didnt really like it. the chocolate tastes a bit weird to me. But fishy and squiddy said its nice.

Crabby and myself kept trying to see if we merely just tasted the wrong parts. In the end we concluded that we still don't like it. haha

Sofra

Met the seafoodies today for our Jan gathering! We went Sofra, had turkish food!

We shared a salad plate..

comes with quite a fair bit of items....

dun really know the names of every item but everything was not too bad. Crabby particularly loves the eggplant. I liked the rice rolled in leaves and the pea mash!

we also shared a jumbo kebap combo....

Their bread is so good! so soft and warm!

a close up of the meats...

i didnt try the lamb.. but the chicken was awesome! the rest agreed as well!

also had a beef pizza....

a closer up view...

squiddy loved the pizza.. i'd say its pretty good. the beef tasted quite strong though, reminded me of mutton.

another beef item we ordered...

a closer up view..

the meat inside is minced meat and its pretty nice.

fishy and rachie arrived late and they ordered another spaghetti...

it looks quite boring, tastes not very exciting but its ok. a lil minty in tomato based. its not too bad.

the whole meal worked out to around $84.

Soup Restaurant

Dinner with Yunping, Huanliang, Jing Hua and Wenjie at Century Square's Soup Restaurant..

we went for one of their set meals for 4 pax.

there was soup....

soup was good! shark fins melon soup... they live up to their name!

the samsui chicken.....

i've heard so so many people telling me this.. " i usually dun take ginger.. this is the only dish that makes me eat ginger and its so so nice! ". haha

salad prawns....

which was quite decent as well.

fried vege....

quite spicy but nice.

stir fried deer meat...

tender!

steamed fish...

Very fresh! i like it!

fried rice....

found it decent.

and an additional order of minced meat wif salted fish under my request...

worked out to be quite cheap after splitting into 5. A very satisfactory meal for me and Yunping!

Dessert Couture

I ordered cupcakes from Evan of http://www.bossacafez.blogspot.com/ for Xinying.

collection is a little troublesome coz its at Sembawang and i don't drive. Evan was nice enough to deliver so i had to pay for the cab fare of a round trip which was $20 =( SO EXPENSIVE! I hate the cab fare increment!

cupcakes for xinying....

the cupcakes are really quite pretty! requested them to be in xinying's favourite pink!

its ok in terms of taste.. in comparison to cupcake mamma, i'd say i personally prefer cupcake mamma's cupcake coz their icing is sweeter. But of coz, taste is subjective and its probably because this is a cupcake swirl.

Muji

I shared the Muji's maple cream crackers that i got earlier with the rest...

yan was the one who introduced this to me previously. She specially bought them from the Muji in HK because they were previously not available in singapore and they taste really good! I was so excited when i saw them so i bought 2 packs, gonna save a pack to pass them to Yan!

The Mind Cafe

Xinying's suprise birthday party was held @ The Mind Cafe (Prinsep Street)....

i've always patronised Settlers Cafe (coz got discount card but it has expired on 12/07) so Mind Cafe is kinda new to me....

in comparison, Mind Cafe seems to be noisier... haha.. but more food and drink items...

the crowd at Mind Cafe seems younger as well.

the food and drinks....

some iced coffee thingy....

which i didnt try.

root beer float...

which was quite good.

my peach soda...

which was good!

the food items...

they had samosa and some egg fillings samosa thingy...

they were both pretty good!

calamari which i didn try...

onion rings which i didnt try either....

pretty tasty n crispy black peppered chips....

Ken paid for everything in the name of Xinying's beloved husband. haha.. thank cute Ken. Overall i'd say the surprise party was a success!

Tony Romas

Lunch with Anthony @ Tony Romas (Suntec City).

As we entered, we were surprised to see not one, not two but loads of red lanterns hung up as decorations for chinese new year!

SO OFF! hahaha... i mean tony romas and red lanterns, such a mismatch!

we shared a potato soup....

its so nice! thick and chunky potatos wif bacon, spring onion and cheese as toppings. the meiji crackers really compliments the soup!

we also shared a steak and ribs combo....

our steak...

requested for medium rare....

the ribs that's supposed to be their speciality was nothing fantastic in my view. It was just decent. the steak, i remember it used to be pretty good but today's one was also quite normal.

anthony treated! thank cute!

NYDC

Deanie came to meet up with us after our movie and we went to fulfill Kendi's coffee session desire. She said she's been dying to go for coffee session for weeks but never got a chance to fulfill it. Coffee Club was really crowded so we headed to NYDC instead.

and as expected, we didnt just have drinks.

Jiamiao chose the nutty noghat brownie....

under my recommendation! it was YUM! the rest all liked it as well. Warm brownie wif nuts topped wif ice cream. what's not to like about it?

i chose the granny goes nuts mud pie...

its got yummy nuts and marshmallows inside...

yummy! but quite expensive.

kendi ordered the priscilla's favourite (priscilla's not a friend btw.. its the name of the dish)...

its cheesecake wif chocolate ice cream and chocolate fudge. I didnt find it particularly nice. Just a normal cheese cake in my view but Kendi liked it. Maybe coz i was too full to try a second mouth. haha

loh gong zai being someone who doesnt particularly have a sweet tooth, went for the mushroom madness pizza...

while their crust may not be particularly thin, its one of the nicer pizzas around. I love their generous portion of mushrooms. its good!

kendi had a hazelnut coffee....

which was pretty ok.

i had an iced earl grey...

its quite diluted and just doesnt taste particularly good. and portion is so big... probably to match the very expensive price. I prefer coffee club's iced earl vanilla.

deanied had the lemon shiver upon my high recommendation...

it is good la!

Pasta Cafe

Dinner was at Pasta Cafe with Kendi, Jiamiao & loh gong zai...

located at level 1 of Ngee Ann City, facing MOS burger.

Been here years back with dar dar and Jo on separate occasions. I vaguely recall we used to love their chicken karage, calamari and lasagne... but over time i guess we kinda forgot about returning.

the place has since renovated ....

it is noted that this place seems quite popular and always seems to have a pretty long queue each time we come by.

We shared a few starters...

Procuitto and Parmigiano ($8.90)...

its not supposed to come with the honey dew but they mixed up our order so they just topped up the cheese. The parma ham was not great but considering the price and that its not those typical true italian restaurant, i won't say there was major disappointment.

Breaded Mussels ($6.90)...

the bread crumps were garlic flavoured and its oh so nice! this dish is recommended!

chicken karage ($6.90)...

loh gong zai pointed out that we also had fried chicken from Daidomon yesterday but i still insisted on ordering because i remember we used to love it so loh gong zai took a look at the menu and said.. " the price here compared to what we had yesterday is peanuts... u want to order how many plates also can " hahhaa... the karaage chicken was ok.. falls short of my expectations actually. I remember it being much much nicer.
for mains, loh gong zai had the seafood sambal marinara ($17.90)...

truth be told, i cannot really remember how it tastes. But i remember loh gong zai didnt complain or sing praises so i guess its decent.

Kendi went for the slipper lobster ($17.90)...

its supposed to be one of their signature dishes. It looks so good on the menu and on other's tables but Kendi's one just didnt seem to look great. In terms of taste, it was also nothing wow-ing. Just decent.

I went for the oyster cream ($16.90)...

we were pretty surprised that they had oysters actually. Yesterday at Daidomon, they said oyster was not available and loh gong zai updated that AVA has blocked some oysters from China because they failed the noroviruses test by AVA hence resulting in oyster shortage.

anyway, the oysters in my oyster cream pasta was HUGE! it was nice!

loh gong zai also ordered some coffee drink...

Tastes pretty good.

overall the food at pasta cafe is pretty decent, not overly expensive. I believe we'll head back again.

Barracks

after dinner, we adjourned over to Barracks for drinks....

we had red and white wine to celebrate the good news....

andy zai's treat! thank cute & CONGRATS!

Ambience at Barracks was great, service staffs were really polite.. they'd greet and make every guest feel welcome. We really enjoyed ourselves.

Yakiniku Daidomon

It's dar dar's birthday! I've made reservations for Yakiniku Daidomon, located at Keypoint level 1. I've also requested for a private room and managed to get them to waive the room charges. My initial idea was to get either Barracks or Oosh because dar dar likes the ambience of the places along Dempsey but Barracks required a minimum spending of $1500 and Oosh wasnt able to provide me with a proper priced menu and i had to respect the other members of the group as well. Yakiniku Daidomon was chosen and it proved to be a good choice! Everyone had a good meal and they kept giving praises of the place.

Yakiniku Daidomon....

i've visited this place like 10 years back... Jo brought me here with her family. They were raving to me about how nice the beef from this place was, how tender and all but i didn't used to eat beef (dat explains why i keep going for beef now.. chi bao chou.. haha!).. I was under the impression that this place is major, super expensive and its not exactly that accessible so i never really headed back.

i called before coming down and realised that they have either buffet or ala carte. Pricing for buffet is as follows:

you can check out their buffet menu here.

$58 ++ may not be cheap but considering the food and all, its actually quite worth it.. or at least everyone on our table felt so. The food were all pretty fresh and tastes good. This place is actually famous for their wagyu shabu shabu but we didnt order it since we were already going for the buffet.

here are some of the food items..

salad...

kim chi...

jelly fish...

sour plum rice...

tamago...

egg soup, oxtail soup, seaweed soup....

personally found the oxtail soup to be the nicest.

sashimi....

the butter fish is so so so so so so good! Lionel, i know u 'detest' people who use 'melts in your mouth' but i did feel like it melted in my mouth! haha... when i placed it into my mouth and gave a bite, the sweet juices just seemed to splash out in my mouth.. the texture is also amazing....

so we ordered more!

tempura...

the tempura prawns were pretty decent. the white fish was quite tasteless. the chicken was just ok, not tender.

seafood....

there was prawns, squid and scallop. The scallops were my favourite! Big and fresh.. and most importantly, FREE FLOW. muahaha!

the chicken....

was nice!

sausages....

typically i'm a very sausage person. the sausages are decent but not impressive. Maybe its coz they arrived last so by the time we were pretty full after all the beef, pork and chicken already. haha

the lamb ....

the different pork parts....

pork loin...

pork belly....

pork chin...

pork collar...

the pork belly was the hot favourite amongst everyone. The chin was literally just fats. haha

the beef items....

marinated raw beef with egg yolk...

to be eaten raw! tastes ok.

raw liver....

i tried one piece, found it ok but weird. haha.. Kendi and andy zai were the 2 other brave souls to try it and they actually liked it! esecially andy zai.. he finished most of it.

marinated and lightly grilled raw beef...

loh gong zai said this one is power. he really liked it.

some of the other beef parts which i cant really tell which is which part....

this one is the beef tongue....

i found it quite chewy so i didnt really like it but fishtank said its nice.

the bbq....

and the desserts....

we were so full after the meal! the corn flavour was very nice.. the girls all liked it.. the guys preferred the cookies and cream and said it tastes like some haagen daz flavour. the watermelon wasnt very sweet though.

El's Western Grill

Lunch with Ami at the Thomson Plaza's foodcourt.

i went for the aglio olio with grilled fish again from El's western grill....

its yummy!

I'm pretty into aglio lately.. i think it is attributed to the scrumptous aglio olio pasta that Ken cooked the other day. haha

Wednesday, January 16, 2008

NYDC

after seeing people order the east side brownie stack the other day at cafe cartel, i've been craving for brownie wif ice cream.. so after dinner, we headed to NYDC for brownie!

Ooo la la! its good! I do prefer Cartel's east side brownie stack though.. its richer in chocolate but very sinful.. i like!

Kaizhi's treat.. thank cute!

Beppu

Kaizhi and i had dinner at Beppu!

Kaizhi had the chicken ramen wif 2 chillis....

i dun like the chilli soup.. haha.. the chicken was ok.

i had my char siew ramen....

today's charsiew didnt taste as nice as the first 2 times i tried it. the soup was still good though.

Tuesday, January 15, 2008

EL's Western Grill

EL's western grill located at Thomson Plaza's Food Court.

I ordered an aglio olio and requested to top up a grilled fish...

its nice! The aglio olio may not be the best i've had but its pretty good!! Slightly spicy, not too oily. its nice. The grilled fish is also yummy!

Hans

For lunch, under dar dar's recommendation, i ordered the beef burger from Hans. I didnt manage to get the menu so my beef burger came rather plain.... just the beef patty and the bread...

didnt find it particularly good. Was just ok in my view.. quite pepperish.

when i realised it doesnt come with any sides, i requested to add an omelette by the side but the person gave me a whole egg omelette order instead...

a closer up view...

the ham omelette was not bad. The fries was quite nice as well. I like fries wif a bit of the raw potato taste. haha

Monday, January 14, 2008

Coffee Club

Crabby and i went for a late dinner at Coffee Club. We shared a crepe champignon...

a closer up view...

this dish is loh gong zai's favourite item from coffee club. he orders it like everytime. Crabby tried it and went.. " Mmm.. this is so good. ".

Personally, i find it pretty ok.... i like how the skin is so thin but it doesnt wow me.

Four Leaves

lunch was at Four Leaves cafe. Went for their value meal ($6.90) which was a grilled fish set.

comes with soup of the day....

the typical ok tasting mushroom soup... no complains considering the price.

my grilled fish....

a closer up view....

i typically prefer my food grilled as compared to fried. also i like the fact dat this doesnt come wif french fries. the omelette was just ok though.

Sunday, January 13, 2008

Cookie Museum

Xinying also provided snacks for our mahjong session. Our snacks for times when we are full but mouth still itchy, was cookie from the cookie museum (@ Esplanade, formerly known as V Tea Lounge)...

Cranberry and lychee cookie!

PREMIUM cookie okie! means gui one hor.. dun play play.. one box can cost around $30! she bought it to match her freaking expensive english tea set specially flown in by Leo... Xinhui was sworn to secrecy not to reveal how much it costs but its been guessed that it costs at least $300 (most probably costs much more).... we suspect the teapot pour water in already got aroma one... haha..

anyway, the cookie was really really good. the cranberry was chewy and i think there are pieces of almond flakes as well. the lychee aroma filled the air when the tin was open. Sigh.. why is it so expensive?

Ice Cream Gallery

For desserts, we had ice cream from ice cream gallery left over from our pyjamas potluck party on xmas....

only tried the chocolate and vanilla flavour. typically i prefer vanilla but i found their chocolate flavour nicer.

Friday, January 11, 2008

Cafe Cartel

The first sms that woke me up this morning was from my best friend.. " Let's have pizza tonight! ".

My reply was.. " i hope its not from the hut.. "

turns out my best friend really wants pizza from the hut! WHY? its like eating loti.. i was damn against it and initially, we were both not hungry either so we didnt think of getting any food until my dear jo said...

" i'm feeling feverish.. i think i need my pizza hut now "

immediately after she said that, we both starting luffing and rolling...

eventually, we ended up walking out to siglap for dinner. We went over to cafe cartel.

we wanted nuggets but they no longer serve just nuggets so we had the chicken n fish basket...

the nuggets were really soft. fish was ok but too thin pieces in my view. would be nicer if it was thicker.

i had a set which came wif a not tasty soup ...

so we barely finished it.

i had oxtail stew....

the stew today is not as good as our previous visits and there wasnt much meat. i kinda miss miss clarity's beef stew.

Jo had a ham and cheese sandwich...

was not too bad.

Jo's treat for dinner. thank cute!

Yummy Yummy Wan Guo

Went walking around the sims drive market wif nataley and saw this stall...

it says taiwanese wan guo... looks quite interesting!

only $1.20...

went for the scallop and mushroom one. Tastes pretty good i'd say! the wan guo itself doesnt have much tastes... its abit like having carrot cake steamed. but the chilli sauce dat came wif it is quite nice, goes very well with the wan guo... and this is coming from someone who doesnt take chilli sauce!

Min Zhong Prawn Mee

Lunch today was at the market along sims drive / sims place.

i went for the very popular prawn mee...

i've not tried alot of prawn mees to judge but i really love their prawn mee soup here. I've had it since i was very young and according to mummy its quite popular also...

the soup just tastes good.. and u'll haf the option of adding pork or pork ribs. mine is the pork ribs.

Wednesday, January 09, 2008

Royal Copenhagen

Dinner with loh gong zai and dar dar. We went for dinner at Royal Copenhagen....

the menu...

their iced water ....

which has this strawberry taste... kinda weird.. i mean not dat i dun like strawberry.. but usually even if they add lemon i'd not like it either. strawberry is not common and is just weird to me.

dar went for the ribeye steak ($21.50)...

its quite good! loh gong zai and dar wanted it medium. i think i'd like it alot better if its medium rare. its quite tender and portion is very good!

loh gong zai went for the selfish pasta ($18.90)....

its very nice as well! Smelled so good when it arrived, served wif prawns, lobster n mussels. Loh gong zai said the sauce has a bit of curry taste which i didnt detect... but its nice! initially loh gong zai joked saying dat because its selfish pasta, he cannot share wif us but we must share our food wif him... haha

as for me, i had the shooting star ($16.90)....

the fried fish....

which was average and a rather small piece.

dar dar den asked me why i chose to order fish coz im typically the beef kinda person... dats when i recalled. the reason why i ordered was coz the menu reads saying there is fried and steamed fish.. where is my steamed fish?

so we checked and the lady came back wif this...

its pretty good! the sauce tastes abit like thousand island but not quite. oh.. n i ordered it coz i saw its cheap n wu hua .. got steamed fish and also got fried fish.. i just like dat kinda variety in my meals.

we also shared a viking sausage ($18.90)...

i found it ok, dar dar really liked it.

Cai Shi Bak Chor Mee

For lunch today, because i needed to mail something, nataley accompanied me to the post office @ Geylang and we went to this kopitiam called Junction or something. its along the road from Aljunied MRT to Geylang Post Office. Nataley recommended the bak chor mee...

my bak chor mee...

and wanton soup...

the bak chor mee was ok but my favourite is definitely still Tai Hwa. The liver here is not semi cooked like how tai hwa's one is. For the wanton as well.. tai hwa's one is one of the BEST.. this one tastes decent, bigger in portion though.

Sunday, January 06, 2008

Garden Pastry

Granny's birthday cake...

ordered from Garden Pastry. A neighbourhood pastry shop near our place. Owner is our neighbour. Been patronising him for years! the cake may be a simple butter cake in those typical neighbourhood cake shop's cream design, its actually pretty good. the cream is not too oily or gerlard.

The Paramount

Today we celebrated granny's birthday @ The Paramount..

its under Tung Lok Group.

it was ala carte buffet style so my aunt angie had already preselected some of the dishes to be served. since its buffet, our table also ordered some other items.... i'd say its a wu hua buffet... $33.80 per adult, $23.80 for children 10 years and below and check out the spread...

dishes were all very decent. Even includes a mini buddha jumps over the wall. Salmon was fresh.. my personal favourite was the black pepper beef cubes. Although the sauce kinda overpowers the original beef taste but it was so so tender... chit jia and chit jie liked it too!

These are only some of the items on their menu.. its a very comprehensive menu.. 2nd uncle footed the bill.. must have been quite a sum!

Saturday, January 05, 2008

Wan Tou Shek

After mahjong, we proceeded for dinner @ Wan Tou Shek...

the drinks...

i went for the barley which is very nice.. its got those white blocks of.. hmm.. i duno wat its called... but its just nice. den aloy and shawn introduced their honey lemon to me! its really nice coz its got this jelly jelly thingy inside!

the dim sum we ordered...

ALL YUMMY! ok, dun set ur expectations too high. Decent! Especially love the crab meat (REAL crab meat) chee cheong fan, fried prawn wanton, lotus rice and their zhao pai dou fu!

u can refer to here for previous numerous postings of Wan Tou Shek!

Yummy Rainbow Milkcurd

Passed by that bubble tea shop near my place and saw they had a new item.. Its called Yummy rainbow milkcurd...

i bought the chocolate and egg favour!

cost $1.50 each. Its quite good! very refreshing! The texture is very smooth like pudding... the chocolate one tastes better in my view.

Sims Place Blk 53 Ban Mian

Nataley ordered from the Ban Mian stall...

she was raving about this ban mian to me.. their chicken culet ban mian...

it was really quite good! the sauce goes very well wif the fried chicken!

Pa3co Bistro

We went for lunch together at this kopitiam @ Blk 53 Sims Place. After coming here the other day, the picture of the aglio olio from the western food stall (Pa3co Bistro) just wouldnt get out of mind so even though Diana and Nataley has warned me about it not being very good, i was determined to try. They said another colleague has tried and its very plain (and yes, finally colleagues who do lunches together!).. so i ordered one wif a piece of chicken added... costs $5

actually its not that bad.

the chicken chop...

the aglio in terms of taste is decent except its way too oily. Would be great if its not as oily. The chicken was alright.. it was marinated wif spices which i don't particularly like.. i'd prefer it plain but i believe most others would like the spices.

Thursday, January 03, 2008

Lion City Niang Dou Fu

lunch was at this hawker centre around sims drive. i had the Lion City Niang Dou Fu...

only wanted soup but saw someone order the yam rice from the lady so i ordered one to share wif diana...

the yam rice...

Was quite good! fragrant with mushrooms.

Wednesday, January 02, 2008

The Rice Table

Dinner with Ana, Gavin & Jimmy @ The Rice Table.

We had dinner @ The Rice Table because Ana and Gavin are sick of western food in aussie. haha..

prawn crackers as starters...

the different dishes....

a close up of the dishes....

all in all, the dishes were ALL nice. My favourite was the beef! It was tender and the gravy was great! The fried kang kong was also yummy... the sweet and sour fish too! Mmmmm!

Jimmy and myself wanted to play host but Ana stole the bill. Thank cute Ana!

Bedok 85 bak chor mee

Jeremiah went for the famous bak chor mee. Just like the porridge, go where the queue is. He said its his favourite and he usually eats 2 bowls!

i know its really popular... but i don't find it outstanding. Can't understand why its so popular... maybe its coz i prefer the dry kinda bak chor mee. I'm sure there's a reason why its so popular though.

Chai Chee Porridge

Dinner with Jeremiah at bedok 85.

went for my favourite porridge! Chai Chee Pork Porridge..

its easy to find, go where the queue is!
