Brazilian - Brazil Churrascaria

Lea and myself went over to Sixth Avenue to meet up with Henry at about 8 pm for dinner at Brazil Churrascaria...

the interior of Brazil Churrascaria....

the starters...

First was to go for the salad bar...

Although the salad is free flow but chances are, u'll only go walk there once because after that, servers would come by like this...

offering us meat, meat and more meat!

Here are some varieties....

There's beef tenderloin, beef ribs, roasted pineapple, snowfish....

and ham, pork loin, beef slicies, chicken heart.....

and chicken, beef ham, sausages...

Was so full by the end! Like im gonna give birth soon! Probably twins! But totally enjoyed it! I actually felt dat i din eat alot.. i mean, i feel dat i can usually eat more but somehow recently i dun eat as much as before. Well, should be considered a good thing i guess.

In the end we ordered drinks trying to aid digestion.. the very friendly and nice lady server suggested one of their speciality drink to me...

and henry had wine...

Cafe - Can Cafe

Went over to Can Cafe with Fiona after dinner.....

The interior of the place....

It gives a rather westernised retro nostalgic feel.

We had drinks and calamari coz Fiona was craving for some munchers...

I recommended Fiona to try their speciality which is iced cube coffee. The ice cubes are in coffee flavour and with shapes!

u see the heart and the star shape?

Myself, i ordered the ginsheng bird nest drink. I like the taste.. those who dun like ginsheng may not like it.

Cafe - V8 Cafe

Met up with Fiona at Bugis V8 Cafe.. she suggested the place.

and this is the menu of v8 cafe...

There was actually quite a crowd....

Pretty crowded even for a weekday.

We were served the soup of the day - mushroom dat came wif our orders of main course....

Taste was alright.

We ordered the cocktail samosa under Fiona's recommendation....

It was not bad, very crispy. I even had to soak some in the some to uncrisp it. haha... just a personal preference. hee...

For mains, i ordered beef lasagne....

after watching Garfield crave for it yesterday in the movie, i was craving for it. The lasagne i ordered was alright.. din find it fantastic.

Fiona ordered a black pepper seafood pasta....

It was rather tasty.

And for drinks....

Fiona ordered a shirley temple while i had a iced mocha. I had wanted an iced earl grey with a scoop of vanilla but for dat scoop of vanilla, i had to pay an additional $2.80 so i opted for the iced mocha instead.

Buffet - Aquamarine (Marina Mandarin Hotel)

Dinner is to be at Aquamarine, the buffet restaurant of Marina Mandarin....

Sorina introduced the place to us...

The price of the buffet is halved if u pay using the HSBC card because its 1 for 1! Dats why Meina said they haf a free slot and asked me along offering to treat me. So nice!

Ok, the food!

Theres sashimi...

and the usual seafood...

The star is usually the oysters...

and over here, they open the oysters right before u...

and check out the mini tabasco sauces they haf....

My oysters...

using my palm as a gauge, check out the size of the mini tabasco sauce!

So cute! We wanted to kup and bring a few bottles home! haha.. but we din in the end.

There's also sushi and chawanmushi...

And see how Meina tries to hide the rice of the sushi dat she can't finish....

hahaa.. she hides them in the oyster shells!

and some of the cold cuts... there's ham, roast beef...

goose liver pate....

and there's salmon and roasted potatoes....

Fish maw soup....

Prawn dumpling soup....

The server who helped me wif the prawn dumpling soup was very friendly. He later came to chat wif me when he saw me taking pics. His name is Aaron.

there are also tempuras...

and roast beef...

cheese lobsters...

Cheese platters....

chinese rojak...

indian rojak....

And even bbq items outdoors! This other server was nice enuff to pose for me!

And this is him grilling the food...

The outdoors of the restaurant...

and while i was still having the mains of the buffet, Meina's sis and husband is already tucking into the dessert and they recommended this chocolate cake...

Its REALLY REALLY GOOD. It really MELTS IN UR MOUTH. Its not too sweet, just nice. I dun even feel 'gerlard'! Its so good! The big strawberries as well, they are so so sweet! Omg... not sour but really really sweet!

And she also got me chocolates...

for desserts, theres also the chocolate fondue....

Realised dat alot of buffet places are bringing in the fondue machine.. haha..

And there were also nonya kuehs...

And other desserts....

The green tea mousse was nice!

and the spread of desserts...

Look at this cake...

it looks so pretty doesnt it? So classy! The taste was alright.

and there was also ice cream... but coz we were mostly very full, we opted for the lime shorbert....

We believe that because its sour, it helps to aid digestion! haha..

And i went to steal the strawberries on the other cakes because the strawberries are really oh so sweet! And they are big too!

Just when i was about to walk away wif my strawberries, Aaron came along and chatted wif me again.. hehe.. i told him i love the strawberries and he directed me to where they haf some fresh cut strawberries and he also asked me if i tried their panna cotta (can't remember the exact spelling) and he also directed me to it.. he said its really good. So i took on his recommendation......

Seriously its quite nice. Cant quite discribe the taste... its somewhat like yoghurt in a more solid custard form.... i really quite liked it!

We walked out and this is a lounge like place outside Aquamarine...

Western - Swensens

Went for dinner with Jasmine and Florence at North Point's Swensens...

The soup....

They had soup of the day which was mushroom soup while i had their seafood chowder served in a bread pot.. but i din eat the bread.. haha

my mains was the first to arrive.. i had their mega burger...

A closer view...

Its so huge! Comes with a fried egg, ham, bacon (the bacon is very nice in my view), beef patty and vege! Pretty filling! I din eat the bread again.. hehe..

Next to arrive is Jasmine's curry chicken baked rice....

and Florence's almond crusted lamb chops....

Florence said the portion is quite small.

And for dessert, Florence had iced chocolate float..

It was not bad!

Jasmine had a cookie submit....

and i ordered a white chocolate blondie to share.....

Its oh-so-good! Its white chocolate almond filled cake.. served warm on a sizzling pan... with an ice cream on top. Lotsa pistachios and almonds are sprinkled all over followed by a sauce dats like butter... Ooooo.... Florence loved the cake as well. heh..

Chinese - Pine Court

We went to Pine Court at Mandarin Hotel.

The interior of the restaurant....

The ceiling...

and the plant on the table...

And the sauces.....

their menu....

The first to come was the combination platter....

Its got roast pork, roast duck, some ham and a chicken wif a chinese red herb which i duno wat its called.

A closer view....

It was not bad.

and we also had foie gras...

It was good!

The server lady recommended us to try this particular zizimo (duno if i spelt it correctly) dish.. they later called it zhen zhu hua (pearl flower).....

On top of the item is crab meat and prawn mousse is stuffed inside the 'flower'....

It tastes DARN GOOD!!! the lady guo ran mei you jie shao cuo!

and for our soup, dar ordered a sharkfins soup.....

recommended by her colleague Yvonne. I felt it was just ok and its actually quite expensive. $48 if i recall correctly.

i changed my soup to a seafood fushion in foie gras broth....

The name of the soup sounded special. Foie gras broth.. the soup was really yummy! Very nice. The foie gras tasted abit different from the normal way we have it though but it really did make the soup really tasty. There's also prawns and scallops in the soup. Thinking about it makes me drool! lol

We also ordered a black pepper beef cube dish...

its really good as well. Tenderloin beef cubes wif very crispy you char kway, onion, red pepper and garlic.. yum!

When we were about done, the friendly lady servers came over to check if we wanted dessert and offered recommendations. The first item they recommended was some almond wif taro served in a coconut shell dish.. we din take dat because i dun like almond taste.

In the end, we chose a chilled aloe vera and lemon grass topped with calamansi sherbet and a chilled avocado cream and sea coconut topped with walnut ice cream.

While waiting for our dessert, we saw the servers serving this dish wif smoke coming out from it. So we checked with the friendly lady servers who were chatting up wif us. She told us dats the coconut dessert dat we din order and so we just happened to ask if our dessert came wif dat smoke as well and guess what? She made a special request with the kitchen for our dessert to be presented wif dry ice as well!

Now this is what we call great service! Woo!

A close up of the items....

Both were really good. My avocado cream was really unique. Dar's aloe vera was really refreshing.

Western - Corduroy & Finch

I went to corduroy...

Was pretty early and i chose to sit downstairs today...

For starters, i had this mediterranean platter for 1...

Was kinda surprised when it came... din realise that there was so many items. Was actually deciding between this and the foie gras but the server recommended this because he said there's abit of everything.. indeed! haha..

A closer up view of the items....

and they also brought me these 2 other items...

on the left its some onion item which was rather nice and on the right is bread and butter.. to be honest, though im not much of a bread and butter person (even when i do take bread and butter, i usually would add sugar.. but today i din), the bread was quite nice. Not to the extent of yummilious but it was warm and i duno how to put it .. just nice.

Honestly, by the time i finished the starters, i was already very full. haha..

My mains came after that... i couldnt quite decide what to haf so i got the server to recommend as well. He recommended the catch of the day.. its seabass wif lobster sauce....

He said this is not an everyday thing so i took his recommendation. It was really not bad. The lobster sauce taste was strong.. and the fish was ok.. love the mashed potato below and even the corn.. the corn had its own sweet taste plus it totally took in the taste of the dish.. nice!

Although i was already very full and i knowingly knew dat we're gonna order desserts later (hee.. how can i not order the apple crumble??), i still went on to order an vodka vanilla milk shake!

haha.. the drink was really good!

we had the dessert sampler for 2! The chef brought the pastry out to us....

this is our sampler for today...

another view...

we kinda requested for them to include the apple crumble in our sampler.. its so good! We did haf a couple of repeated items dat we had the last time.. like the passionfruit cake, the chocolate cake and the strawberry cheesecake.

The newer items included the almond creme brulee.. but i dun like it simply coz i dun like almond.

The strawberry tiramisu was nice! It came wif this biscuit on top dats SO GOOD!

Another one is some duno coffee or hazelnut moose wif pineapple something. Thot dat was ok.

I went and bought the cigarette chocolate from the counter! $2.80 per box! I bought 3!

See, the chocolates are rolled in the form of ciggies...

from the top view...

Dim Sum - Swee Choon

Brought Ping jie jie to Swee Choon.

Swee Choon serves tea in old tea cups....

Our orders from Swee Choon....

There was carrot cake (i personally prefer crystal jade's), prawns in beancurd skin (very nice!), prawns roll (which is prawns rolled in bread.. interesting but very lil prawns instead.. ok if u're a bread person.)

And other items...

Century egg porridge was not bad, har kow was not bad, din try the siew mai and the chicken feet was somewhat different from others.

Steak - The Ship (my birthday celebration)

Sorina gave me a birthday treat at The Ship....

We all ordered set meals... i changed my soup to onion soup....

was not bad..

They also served bread and butter...

I usually haf my bread wif butter and sugar... apparently Sorina has never tried it before... haha..

and for mains....

I ordered the half lobster wif tenderloin steak. It was not bad... the lobster was good but the steak can be more tender.

Sorina ordered the cod fish fillet after much hesistation because we get the impression the portion for cod fish is usually miserably small. But surprisingly, their cod fish's portion was really good and it was really nice.

Meina ordered some Chicken maryland thingy. Came wif bacon, fried banana and a corn pancake. She was very satisfied wif it coz it looks interesting. I found it ok only because im not much of a chicken cutlet person.. i generally prefer my food grilled den deep fried.. (but of coz, depends on what la)

dessert we opted to change our dessert to ice cream.. i opted for vanilla....

Japanese - Waraku

Went to Waraku with Sonia and Rachel because i wana try the sea urchin i din get to try the other day.. Sonia wants to try it too! We wanted to order the sea urchin sashimi but its $28.. hmm.. the sushi is $8.. tot about it for awhile before finally decided to order the sushi...

The taste in my view, is somewhat like the raw ebi sushi. I found it ok but Sonia and Rachel seemed like they din really like it! haha..

Initially, dat was all we were gonna order. Den Rachel and Sonia decided to share a seafood curry udon...

They said the udon is very Q. i din manage to try the udon coz Rachel finished the very last udon. haha.. but i tried the curry.. the curry wasnt very good.. the seafood was quite fresh and big .. hehe..

i also recommended them the raw minced tuna wif spring onion...

They, like me like spring onion. The spring onion really complimented the minced tuna! hee...

Japanese - Waraku

Specially went down to Waraku with dar dar coz i wana try the sea urchin but the sea urchin is out of stock!

Grrrr.. but we had a delightful meal still!

We had the assorted sushi...

This was ordered by Ivan the other day.

and 2 types of sushi...

One's salmon and the other is maguro (tuna) with yolk.. not bad i would say.

and the server recommended this...

Its called Maguro Calppacho. The server said alot of guest likes it. It is actually tuna grilled by the sides, served cold with lotsa spring onion on top. Not fantastic but not too bad.

dar ordered this chicken terriyaki rice...

not bad but nothing to shout about.

i ordered this minced raw tuna wif spring onion....

Its so good! In my view its really good! The spring onion totally complimented the tuna and if u digged in all the way to the rice with the sauce below having abit of tuna, abit of rice, abit of spring onion.. its oh so good! Loved it!

and some other items...

the squid is called Ika Maruyaki. Not very nice.. in fact its quite hard. will probably not order it again if i revisit.

the kushiyaki mix is as the name suggests, a mixture of a few items... there was cheese sausage (good!), grilled scallop (good!), grilled chicken (not bad), another type of chicken (okok only) and asparagus rolled in bacon (the yaki tori one is better). Very worth to order to try abit of everything first.

The cheese hotdog was ordered because we din koe it was included in the mix. But ok la.. coz i like hotdogs and their hotdogs comes with the crunchy skin kind? heh..

The last pic is dat of the corocoro steak! Not bad but can be better if its served medium. Not as tender but no complains.

And if u noticed, we had alot of tuna today! haha

Towards the end of the meal while the server was clearing, dar dar checked wif the lady why one of the prawn head had black juices coming out..

We asked not coz we wana complain but seriously to enquire. The lady apologised and said its probably not fresh enuff. Her apology was sincere and she told us if we ever experience it again, to infm them.... and we took it as dat.

She surprised us by offering us a green tea ice cream each saying its on the house...

The green tea ice cream was good! Not too sweet! Dar agreed dat its very nice as well!

And i think the lady did well in retaining customers. Dats good service! Nothing too extravagent but enuff to impress the customers.

And we were browsing thru their other menus and we saw this...

Why leaf never burn... some kinda leaf bbq.. looks interesting.. maybe we'll try it next time.

Modern Pacific - Tao's

Was craving for their iced rose apple tea so i asked Meina for dinner at Tao's....

Its been quite some time since my bad experience at Tao's.. but i miss their iced rose apple tea so i decided to give them another chance.

Service wise.. seriously, its still nothing compared to the first experience. Service was much slower and most of the staff din koe their product well. The signature server did make up for it though. Read on...

I ordered a iced rose apple tea first while waiting for the rest to arrive...

we ordered after they arrived.. the signature server (call him the signature server because he's the one in the advertisment) took our orders...

our starters came.. it was the bacon and mushroom gratin...

today, the gratin was not warm enuff but still not too bad..

and for their salad, they made some changes again.. these are the 2 new items...

Italian caprese salad and farm boy splendor.

The Italian caprese salad was mainly tomato and cheese. Din quite like their cheese.. its not cheesy.. very rubbery.. kinda funny.

The farmboy splendor was chicken wif egg plant and some vege. Abit sour.

I still miss their ham and spud!

Soup wise, not much changes, i stuck to my pumpkin soup...

and the mushroom...

and for mains... i was craving for steak but i definitely wun want the thin and full of bones steak they previously changed to... checked with the signature server and he said they changed back to tenderloin already.. great.. and he promised to get me a big big piece! haha

Our mains...

I had the steak.. which was not bad.. nothing to shout for but not bad already considering the price.

Constance had the pork ribs which she couldnt finish. Found it alright.

Meina had the lamb... tastes like beef... quite nice.. i tried and that mutton smell wasnt strong at all.. i liked it... but it was rather small in portion.. signature server offered to give us something extra after we feedback to him.. haha.. but we din take it up.

Yinhua had the grilled chicken.. portion and taste was great. Tender chicken.

and i got another flask of iced rose apple tea! hee

and when i tried to close back the lid after eating the apple from my rose apple tea, i probably pressed too hard, pushed the lid all the way into the flask...

in the end we showed the signature server the flask.. he gave me another new pot! hahahahahha.. means i had 3 pots for the price of one! shhhhh.. lol

and for dessert i had the sesame pudding...

the signature server came over with this for us.. a free green tea ice cream...

Western - Corduroy & Finch (my birthday celebration)

Lil bee is giving me a treat today at Corduroy & Finch...

So i walked ard, saw a few other restaurants along the same stretch. There's Ubin Seafood....

and theres a Yanqing Shanghai Kitchen. I wonder if its open by that local tv host Wang Yanqing. heh... but it sure looked very packed.

And theres this piper's pie...

Apparently its Aussie pie..

Corduroy was really packed for a weekday night...

This is their menu.....

and on the first page it wrote....

" to eat is a necessity, but to eat intelligently is an art .. "

their menu was filled with words and no pictures...

Lil bee was also telling me that the Chef cooking today was Chef Ralph. Apparently, he's some very famous chef. He told me abit of background of this chef.. seems like in europe or something the very reputable chefs are actually crowned michelin (ya, and we only koe michelin is a brand of tyres) chefs.. and within it, chefs either haf 1 stars, 2 stars or 3 stars.. with 3 being the best. This Chef Ralph is 2 stars.. wow.. sounds like an honour to haf him cook for us! (btw.. this 'information' is summarised based on wat i remember.. wrong dun blame me.. especially if u try to relate it to some others to impress den backfire, dun blame me)

And our food came...

we had a seafood cream soup. Rather unique.. definitely doesnt taste like canned soup and lotsa fresh seafood ingredients. Usually fresh seafood soup would be tomato based but this is cream based.. rather good.

For mains, lil bee had the uberburger (no, dat dat $100 over at at milennia walk).. this is their sirloin burger. I felt i was alright, not much of a rave. Oh... and actually, the Uberburger at Milennia Walk is by the same management as Corduroy & Finch. Lil bee gave me alot of his beef patty! Haha.. Loved the salad dat came with it.. its really good especially the mushrooms!

Lil bee ordered a slow cooked chicken for me. The tomatoes on it was super good. The chicken was not bad except its breast meat. haha.. i prefer drum! But it was still good. Comes with mashed potato.

After our soup and mains, lil bee ordered a vanilla tea for me to try coz he had the idea i like vanilla which is true....

As soon as the tea arrived, the aroma of vanilla could be smelt. Nice tea! And the biscuit dat came wif it was so damn good! Coated with fine sugar.. very nice! Before i took a bit, lil bee was telling me dat he has this feeling i'll love the cookie.. and he was RIGHT! haha!

Lil bee also ordered a dessert sampler for 1 for me. Basically, its up to the pastry chef to select a number of the many many mini desserts they haf for today and place it on a plate for u. We had already seem a few other tables ordering a few samplers and its all different. It seems they are really reknowned for their pastries.. tiramisu alone they've got 3 different flavours! Heard from lil bee dat the chef really takes pride in the desserts.

This is my set...

There was a chocolate cake which was more of dark chocolate which i din really like coz im not much of a dark chocolate person.

There was a strawberry cheesecake.. i prefer bakerzin's one.

There was this passion fruit cake which din make much of an impression.

And u were just getting sian.. why all my feedback seems not so positive eh? Well, i din say they were not nice.. just not my cuppa tea.. but READ ON.

Their tiramisu, u're provided with a small spoon to dig thru the layers and scoop everything and put them into ur mouth. Its really quite good with that green tea taste lingering in the mouth!

Den theres this pudding (which i said tasted like cold creme brulee but lil bee said its not) which had rasphberry and mango sauce on top (thank god the mango sauce was minimal.. heh) and its oh so yummy... i like!

The BEST BEST BEST amongst the sampler MUST be the apple pie... its so so organsmically (duno if theres such a word, dun care!) nice! YUMMY! Lea, if u like coffee club's u MUST MUST try this one.. its simply marvellous!

haha.. i was so full i finished the tiramisu, the creme brulee like pudding and of coz, left not a bit of the apple pie and made lil bee finish off the rest for me. wahahhahaha!!

We were at level 2 so this is from level 2 looking down....

and theres this sofa section where theres a bookshelf and heard from lil bee dat boardgames are available as well....

After we were done, we went downstairs.. this is their cakes section and some of the cold items they sold...

And their merchandise section....

And this section nearing the kitchen....

And this section where there are heart shaped chocolates and candies!

and by the counter, there were lotsa sweets and candies...

refer the the centre pic above.. its chocolates dat are packed in cigarette pack liked cases! So cute! Hmm.. forgot to ask lil bee if the chocolates inside are in the form of cigarette sticks. haha..

The whole feel of Corduroy is that this place has so much more to offer. It makes me wana go back to try more of its stuff!

Also, aside from the very friendly staff, the customers are also pretty friendly. I was smiling to a caucasian guy who was smiling to me.

The Patissier - Croquembouche

The Patissier located along Mohammed Sultan...

They had a beautiful range of cakes...

this is the cake i bought for myself...

its called croquembouche! so pretty ya? oh.. n pls dun ask me how u pronouce it.. basically when i called to order, i told the person i want the cake wif alot of puffs one.. haha....

Also, couldn't resist buying another 2 single pieces of cakes.

The puffs came in different fillings.. there was strawberry, chocolate and vanilla.. very fun to eat especially in such a big group but honestly, i din find the taste fantastic.. just find it very interesting to eat. haha...

Cafe - Oscar's (First visit)

Oscars is located at Conrad...

when we got there Ivan asked the server if they were serving desserts and he recommended me this chocolate hazelnut crunch thingy... he said its good shit.. lol... its really very good... i mean.. heh.. u all know i really like hazelnut crunch! and there was even a chocolate profiterole with lavender.. i've been wanting to try profiteroles! hee...

Himself on the other hand had some spicy mango tartlet thingy... din ask him if its good but told him dat i dun like mangoes. hee..

Japanese - Waraku (First visit)

Ivan suggested Waraku!

Great choice i would say coz i was actually contemplating trying this place out for sometime already. He said Waraku is a pretty good Japanese restaurant.

As for the items, i let him do the ordering.....

We had unagi, assorted sashimi, prawns tempura, vegetable tempura and chawanmushi. He almost wanted to order tori karage as well.. but i stopped him... haha.. thank god i did coz we couldnt finish our food! The food was good.

Steak - Angus House (my birthday celebration)

Today, Humbert's celebrating my birthday for me. He made reservations for Angus House at Ngee Ann City at 7 pm.

Angus House....

Few nights ago as we were discussing over MSN, Humbert said i shall haf Wagyu steak. While waiting for him to arrive, i was flipping thru the menu by the door and i saw the price for wagyu beef....

It shocked me for awhile and i quickly smsed me... " are u sure im having wagyu beef? "

The wagyu beef costs like $100 for 200 grams?

Angus was pretty nice in the interior. We got seats by the window overlooking the busy Orchard Road....

The ambience was pretty good.

He looked at the price of Wagyu beef and he got shocked as well but he said yes, i can haf wagyu beef.

He ordered the king prawns.

We ordered the set meals so we din hafta headache about what soup what starters.

We were first served bread and butter...

For starter, we were served cod fish....

the cod fish was very good! Yummy~ but portion was small.. heh.. dats coz we're big eaters!

Next was the soup...

the soup was ok.. not very sure what cream soup it is.. probably pumpkin.

Next was the salad...

comes in those japanese dressing dats slightly sour. I like.

Den my wagyu beef came!

It was THICK! And really tender! Damn good! We tried to ask the server whats so special about wagyu beef. Apparently wagyu beef is like kobe beef. Just dat kobe beef comes from Japan whereas Wagyu beef comes from Australia. The special thing about them is that the cows are actually being massaged and fed beer.

Next to arrive was his king prawns...

it din look very king-ish to me... just 4 normal sized prawns sliced into 2. How can anyone ever be full having just 3 pieces of prawns? and he complained about the prawns not being fresh coz the meat was sticking to the shell. I tried a bite and it was seriously just normal. I din want to take more also coz i think its confirm not enuff for him. haha..

next to arrive was desserts... dessert was some mango moose cake. When the server told us it was mango cake, he impressed me by telling the server that i don't take mango and asked if there was any replacement they could offer. In the end, i chose the vanilla ice cream.......

He frowned at the mango moose cake. haha... i guess mango lovers would like it but not us.

The vanilla ice cream was nice! Humbert said its haagen daz ice cream. It came wif this sweet piece of almond covered biscuit waffle.. very nice! It had real almond nuts in it!

Steamboat - Parklane Delihouse Porridge Steamboat Buffet (My birthday celebration)

Located along Liang Seah Street...

This is the place where we are having dinner tonight... Parklane Deli House...

The servers here were all very friendly, helpful and polite. They pointed to this notice on the wall stating how to better enjoy the porridge steamboat buffet...

It included writing the ingredients to be added to make the porridge tastier and the reminder to stir the porridge regularly to prevent it from getting burnt.

For the food items, some are to be ordered from the order list....

They include flower crab, fresh prawns, sliced fish, sea cucumber, cuttlefish, sotong, pork kidney, pork intestines, pork liver, sliced pork, sliced chicken, sliced beef, sliced mutton. As these are fresh items that needs to be refridgerated. (btw.. is it pork kidney, pork intestines or pig kidney, pig intestines?)

Here are some of the items we got from the order list....

We especially loved the beef and the pork! Yummy!

Another section is where you help urself.......

here are some of the items available.....

There are also alot of sauces.....

For a start, they gave us a big pot of porridge as the steamboat base....

and the girls picking out items.....

Some of the things they took.....

And our porridge steamboat.....

After sometime of cooking as the porridge thickened but got tastier!

This auntie below is a very nice lady.. her other staff as well.. they kept coming over to encourage us to eat and help us stir the porridge to prevent it from getting burnt or sticking to the bottom of the pot......

Not just so, she even gave us namecards towards the end of the meal to recommend her other eateries to us... and she even went to get watermelon for us....

Costs ard $14 per person!

Italian - Al Dente (my birthday celebration)

Vreniz made reservations for Al Dente..

After Vreniz arrived, we were brought up to the roof terrace....

The view was beautiful...

This is their menu....

Our orders...

we had a mushroom soup which was not bad. we had a crab rosstti (duno the correct spelling) and Crab lasagna. The crab rosstti was pretty mild in taste whereas the crab lasagna was great.. tastes somewhat like lobster bisque with lotsa crabmeat! Yum!

The pizza was a meat lovers pizza.. also thumbs up with super crispy and thin crust! love it!

haha.. but we were so so full we couldnt finish the pizza.. i tried to finish the toppings while Vreniz ate the rim of the crust!

haha.. it still looked like a whole pizza after we were done..

and drinks we ordered in hope it'll aid digestion....

Dinner was really really good.

Local Delights - Congress

For lunch, Sonia brought me over to Congress. I was so suaku.. i din koe over there, u gotta buy coupons over the counter first before queuing for the food.....

Sonia said the wanton mee is very good. These are our orders..

The wanton mee was seriously not bad. The nasi lemak is not fantastic though. I ordered a hot dog for sonia and myself each.

One Rochester (my birthday celebration)

Joanne brought me to Rochester.. near buona vista...

The place is called One Rochester...

As i walked in, it gave me abit of a slight Villa Bali feel....

Also alot of greens and very much of a chill out and drinks kinda place.

This is was first served to us...

some light starters of ikan bilis which was nice!

This is their menu....

On the first page it read....

" Welcome to One Rochester. Singapore's newest lush retreat. Redefining the way friends meet and unwind over drinks and conversation "

After we took our orders, we checked if they served iced water but the server informed they only had still or sparkling water.. Jo said we can probably order still water first before ordering other drinks.. i somehow had this feeling that the still water would be very expensive so i asked the server to get Jo her still water while i filped thru the entire menu coz the drinks on the menu were mainly wine, cocktails or other alcoholic drinks etc..

Just when i wanted to ask Jo why dun they haf more normal drinks... i saw this...

The Not So Wild Stuff... haha... and that's where i found good old coke and i immediately alerted Jo that her still water costs a freaking $8!! Soft drinks only cost $6. haha.. she immediately changed her order to a sprite and i got a coke...

Surprisingly though the drinks were kinda steep (in my view dat is), the food items pricing was ok.

Our orders....

I chose the vietnamese pork spring roll. I've kinda developed a liking for vietnamese spring roll.. their clear rice paper skin.. hehe.. gives a very refreshing feel... i just like it.

We also ordered bite size chicken pie which Jo thinks it was quite good.. i think its just not bad.

Fries is almost a must for Jo... their fries were not bad.. they call them Rochester Spicy Potatoes... sprinkled with pepper and chilli..

and other items included...

Fried toufu which was not bad.. very soft toufu..

Rochester steak... quite yummy... i liked it.. pretty tender!

and our feast for tonight...

and a round of drinks bought for us by sugar....

fruit punch and red wine.

I realise i cannot hold my liquor well these days. Half a glass of it and i feel warm already so i din finish it.

Before he arrived, i also made arrangements with the person in charge to haf a dessert served with a candle.

This is called melting moment and its really good.

I recalled about the letter from Ma Maison so i decided to bring the family there.

The Ma Maison...

The interior of Ma Maison....

oh.. btw.. their manager is pretty good looking! heh.. and all the staff there provided really good service in my view. They were all polite and attentive despite the crowds.

Our orders came... soup of the day was corn soup...

It came wif the set lunch we ordered.

and our starters and mains....

we ordered escargots, squid ink pasta, some other pasta and steak. Everything was really yummy.

Other items...

theres the pizza, the scotch egg, hamburger steak and pork katsu curry. Pretty yummy as well.

And for drinks... set lunch comes with either coffee, tea, iced coffee or iced tea.

We were also given a mug of beer because we had kids wif us. The promotion they had for family special was that if u bring a kid along, the dad gets a free mug of beer, mum gets free dessert and kid gets a toy.

The free dessert we got was ice cream and we ordered their super yummy brownie....

Aunt lisa and i love the brownie! hee

and the two young ones got to choose a toy each...

The letter from Ma Maison actually states dat they will give us back 30% of what we had.. and this is the amount of voucher we got back....

haha. u can imagine how much we spent there..

Western - Olive Ristorante (my birthday celebration)

Nuaster planned a surprise birthday celebration for me at Olive Ristorante...

The interior of the place...

their menu...

the starters ....

The seafood platter consisted of prawns, salmon and scallop.. a very small portion but should be sufficient for two. The grilled mushrooms was quite nice. The calamari was not bad as well.

And for mains...

Jo-ann ordered the cod fish fillet which the portion was extremely small. So small that anyone wif a slightly bigger mouth eg. me, can gulp it down in one mouth. and its not cheap... Kendi almost wanted to order the same thing but thank god they ran out of it. haha.. when the server came over to inform and loh gong zai saw Jo-ann's cod fish, loh gong zai said.. " its ok.. dats good news " hahaha

Andy ordered the roast chicken which was not bad...

Loh gong zai and myself had the duck leg. But i kinda prefer the duck leg from The Caffe Bar.

Andy zai had the lamb..... which accordingly was very nice.

and the rest also ordered pasta....

one was Deanie's bolognese.. it was not bad...

Dar dar had carbonara which was also not bad..

Kendi had some prawn pasta which was in aglio olio style..

After dinner, they got them to serve the cake.. it was served with fire sparkles!

So pretty ya?

and my cake..

Fine Dining - Broth

Dinner treat at Broth...

We were first served bread and butter....

Jeffrey loved the bread and butter from Broth. So much so that we even got lil bee to find out what brand is the butter. Jeffrey said the butter chi jia liu xiang! hahhaa...

Next, lil bee came to us with 2 glasses of champagne... He said.. " Champagne is for celebrations "

I like that verse!

But like me, Jeffrey is not an alcoholic person.. so he asked for a glass of cranberry...

and out came our starters...

we ordered goose liver which is foie gras... hehe.. seeing dat name already brings a certain organsmic feel.. lol..

we also ordered the baby spinach with portobello which is quite a signature starter dish at Broth. I've tried it before .. i found it ok but i was pretty sure Jeffrey would like it.

true enuff, as expected, he did! heh...

And lil bee probably knows how much i love lobster bisque.. today's soup of the day was seafood broth and lil bee brought a bowl for me...

It smelled like lobster bisque but its clear with lobster cubes ... nice!

and for our mains...

I ordered their pasta for the day which was black ink pasta with beef slices cooked in aglio olio style... it was good!

Jeffrey ordered the lamb... i usually dun like mutton or lamb but i remember Ren Pei telling me before dat he, like me doesnt like lamb but he tried Broth's and he loved it. So i stole a small mouth from Jeffrey.. it was very tender and true enuff, it din haf dat super strong mutton taste.. it was really very nice. I think mutton lovers should try it!

And going to Broth, how can we miss out the desserts? I love love love the sticky date pudding from Broth and lil bee koes it.

But he really surprised me when he came out with my order of the sticky date....

Yes, he added a candle and got the chef to write " Happy Birthday June " with chocolate..

What a heart warming beautiful sight!

Jeffrey chose chocolate creme brulee as his dessert....

It came wif some pear alcoholic drink dats supposed to be finished after the dessert.. the chocolate creme brulee was quite good..

by the time he was done wif mains, he was too full for desserts so we only had one of the cupcakes i reserved...

I forced him to try a mouthful though... he doesnt like rich creamy chocolate he told me.. so i finished the nutella cupcake myself. it was oh so so good!

as for him, he ordered latte. He takes his latte without sugar...

He took coffee to stay awake. haha...
